“You are sailing and watching people on the banks point at the slow movement of radiant colours. You see the ship through their eyes and your own…the rich magentas, cool greens, deep blues, and radiant yellows of the suites, the lounge, the dining room, the deck, the spa and the gym float by…each a three-dimensional colour square inspired by the artist Josef Albers and his 20th century experiments in the relativity and mutability of colour.
The changing light reflects on the water and plays into the suites…the jewel tones of Varanasi’s Himalayan Buddhist gyasar textiles, the soft, mammalian curves of mid-century modern Indian and European teak furniture, original contemporary abstract tantric art, handmade blue tiles in the bathroom, tile-lined wooden hallways and staircases…altogether chic, meditative, sumptuous.
