The colonial heritage of Bengal has inspired many a traveller to embark on a journey that depicts the region’s history through the river Ganges. On the banks of the Lower Ganges, the French, Dutch, Danish, Portuguese and English made settlements to trade, preach and farm while local rulers, saints, agriculturalists, musicians and writers created new ways of living as they encountered European commerce, tastes and power.
ARRIVE KOLKATA, EMBARK
DAY 1
Settle into your beautifully appointed suites aboard the Antara Bengal Ganga in Kolkata (a city formerly known as Calcutta”The City of Joy” founded by the British Raj in 1773), the gateway to our journey along the worlds holiest river, the sacred Ganges. Embark at the Botanical Jetty, welcomed on board with a refreshing beverage on the sun deck followed by a safety briefing . Depending on the tide the ship starts sailing towards Phulia.Late afternoon delight yourself with a game of Tambola followed by curated dinner.Before calling it a night binge on the movie in the lounge.This evening, delight in the Cruise Director’s Gala dinner and welcome reception.
Kolkata-Phulia-Bansberia-Chandernagore
DAY 2
Start your day with Tea/ Coffee on the Sun deck overlooking the flora fauna on the banks of the river Ganges followed by breakfast.Phulia famous as a textile weaving village known for its Tangail saris specializing in jacquard and Jamdani work. The Phulia Tangail is woven in silk as well as cotton.Enjoy lunch on board while we sail to Bansberia. On reaching Bansberia and anchors mid -stream. Late afternoon disembark to visit Bansberia. You ll walk 500 metres to visit the Hangseshwari temple, an octagonal pillared terra cotta work, buld by Raja Nrisinghadeb in 1801. Return to the ship and sail towards Chandernagore. Evening we have the traditional Baul Singers, Bauls are a very heterogeneous group, with many sects, but their membership mainly consists of Vaishnava-Sahajiyas and Sufi Muslims. Late evening we reach Chandernagore and anchor mid stream.

DAY 3
Early morning Tea/ Coffee served on the Sundeck overlooking French Colonial heritage. Morning at Chandernagore and explore the heritage of French architecture.Back on board we start sailing back to Kolkata with breakfast on board.
Departure and disembark from Botanical Jetty.
