OVERVIEW

The virgin stretched beaches, lush green mangroves, migrating birds and turtles, the estuarine crocodiles, meandering water courses, tranquil surroundings intercepted by the chirping of birds and the ever embracing nature. These are some of the offerings of Bhitarkanika – popularly referred to as the mini-Amazon. An Antara cruise takes you to the heart of ‘Bhitarkanika’ which originates from a blend of two Odia words – Bhitar which means interior or inside and Kanika that translates to exceptional or outstanding beauty. Traverse the estuarine region of Brahmani – Baitarani river systems and their tributaries from the comforts of your suite aboard an Antara Cruise  and enjoy this spectacular work of nature.

DAY 01
Embarkation at Gupti (D)

Arrive at the village of Gupti, which is approx. 3½ hours drive from Bhubaneswar, and embark the catamaran at the jetty. You are welcomed on board with a refreshing beverage followed by a safety briefing. Enjoy sundowner as you gently traverse the Pathsala River. The sight of distant Bay of Bengal has breathtaking views. A multi course traditional meal awaits you in the evening giving you the flavours of the region.

DAY 02
Gupti – Dangamal: Exploring Bhitarkanika (B/L/D)

Today sail into the rich and unique mangrove ecosystem to arrive in Dangamal. Disembark and visit the Orientation Centre. Explore the park on foot to observe and learn about the mangrove forest on trails.

Enjoy a sundowner from the top deck of your cruise ship while cruising back to Gupti where the views of the forest and the setting sun are simply mesmerizing. Dinner at leisure followed by a relaxed evening.

DAY 03
Gupti – Dangamal: Exploring Bhitarkanika (B/L/D)

After breakfast, set sail again to Dangamal. Ride the country boat in the narrow channel to Khola for birdwatching and viewing other animals along the river. Return to the Catamaran for lunch. Thereafter explore the park on foot on a different trail. Cruise back to Gupti Jetty.

DAY 04
Gupti Jetty – Habali Kathi – Gupti (B/L/D)

After breakfast, set sail to Habali Kathi (subject to permission) mangrove forest with birdwatching and seeing other animals along the Maipura river. Halt enroute at Ekakula depending on the tidal conditions. Enjoy a walk along the beach and through the mangrove forests and indulge in a picnic lunch. Cruise back to Gupti jetty.

DAY 05
Gupti, Disembark (B)

Enjoy the sunrise and feel the fresh clear crisp air that is so invigorating. Relish the landscapes and beauty of the river and the life alongside. Disembark at Gupti Jetty after breakfast.
